Prince of Darkness

This is a sketch I did when thinking about a short comic I intend to do, Elvis Lives, where Elvis returns as a zombie and tears through raceland but is eventually stopped by a vampiric Ozzy Osbourne.

Brainiac Turtle

A couple of pencil sketches I did of my favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Donatello. I actually grew up liking Leonardo best, but upon reaching my teens I began to see it as shallow in only liking a character for his weapons, which is exactly what I did, so I ended up liking the brainy one the best.

Superhero Manager

This was a micron pen sketch I did based on a comic concept I had, called Lucius Kirby: Superhero Manager, about this sleazy manager who set up superhero fights, inflated their reputations, that sort of thing. The other guy in the picture is my chief speedster El Rayo, spanish for Thunderbolt.

Funky Flash

Wow, that was a long gap in updates. Anyway, The Flash is one of my favorite superheroes, and a while ago I had an idea for a different take on his costume, so I whipped up this sort of disco-inspired thing. I think I'm most satisfied with his hair and glasses.

Howard's Heroes

This sketch was based on an issue of Marvel's What If series, one if the issues had the title "What If Howard the Duck had formed his own Team?" and the idea intrigued me enough to sketch this out. So I put a team together consisting of Howard the Duck, Deadpool, Man-Thing and just to have a complete wild card in there, a reformed Absorbing Man who happens to be one of my favorite Marvel characters.

Bat od Many Worlds

Did a few alternate Batmans the other day, just on a whim, of different Elseworld stories that might be interesting to do. The first one, The Dark Knight, while implausible, is still an interesting idea, Batman as a jedi knight in Star Wars. Nightstalker presents Batman as a ninja in feudal japan, which isnt that farfetched, considering his training, and finally The Bat shows Batman as a pulp hero in the styles of The Shadow and The Clock.

Coal Turtle

I got a set of charcoal supplies a while back and have been trying them out with different sketches, this being one of the earliest ones, of Leonardo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Not exactly super detailed or anything, but considering my small experience with charcoal, I think it looks alright.

Shadow Warrior

A page of doodles I did for an idea I had called Urban Ninja, which I came up with for some short comics to work on action scenes. I've drawn storyboards for two of them, so perhaps I'll end up posting them here as well.

Das Vampire

One of my favorite graphic novels is the Batman: Vampire trilogy, especially the Bloodstorm part, and I found Batmans transformation into a true bat man one of the more interesting designs I've seen of him. I was thinking about the novel a few weeks ago and ended up doodling this out with a micropen. I wasnt too fond of him more monstrous transformation in the last part of the novel, Crimson Mist, I much prefer this version. Of course, being buried for a year probably didnt do him any favors.

Starting up...

Hello, and welcome everyone to my Sketch Blogg. Since I assume nobody here has any idea who I am, I'll give you a brief introduction. My name is Henrik Magnusson, a cartoonist in the making from Sweden, currently 22 years old and residing in Karlskrona, a port city on the southeast coast. I created this account for the sole purpose of putting up my various sketches and scraps, either ideas I've been developing, or stuff that I decided to abandon completely but I dont want to see vanish completely, though I'll probably end up posting about other stuff as well. No matter, lets get on with it.

This was a sketch inspired by one of my favorite comic book series, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen by Alan Moore, more specifically, the latest edition The Black Dossier. I created these characters as pastiches on the type of roles that have always been popular in pulp or detective fiction, so they're not actually taken from anywhere else. Dr Talon, an insane science-villain with a robotic arm, Johnny Night, international superspy and thief, Mr Alistair, an illusionist and possibly an actual mystic and their leader, the masked criminal mastermind know only as The Voice.

I doubt I'll ever end up using them for anything, except possibly The Voice, who is my favorite of the lot, but I still like the design of them.
